WASHINGTON, April 11, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - US President Donald Trump is "optimistic" about striking a trade deal with China, the White House said Friday, even as the world's two largest economies clash over tariffs.

"The president has made it very clear he's open to a deal with China," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters, adding: "He's optimistic."
