THAKURGAON, Feb 9, 2026, (BSS) - Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh candidate Md Mizanur Rahman has vowed to reach healthcare at the doorsteps of people in his area if he is elected in the 13th national polls.
He shared his plans and pledges during an interview with BSS Thakurgaon district correspondent Zakir Mostafiz Milu ahead of the election.
BSS: What are your election promises to the voters of your area?
Mizanur Rahman: Most of the people in my area are farmers and they do not get fair prices for their agricultural products. Our Ameer has promised that we will buy agricultural products at fair price. The quality of healthcare in both our upazilas is not good. There is only a 50-bed upazila health complex here, which was built 50 years ago. Now the population has increased a lot. If we come to power, it will be upgraded to a 300-bed one. We will provide free medical care to children up to 5 years and senior citizens aged over 60. We are thinking of doing everything for those educational institutions that do not have buildings, are not registered with MPO and teachers do not receive any salary. The condition of the roads here is bad and we will take steps to develop roads. We will provide security to the minority community if we form the government, InshaAllah.
BSS: What are your instructions to leaders and workers to follow the electoral code of conduct?
Mizanur Rahman: I am also following the code of conduct announced by the Election Commission. My workers are also following it completely.
BSS: What is your position on the referendum on the July Charter?
Mizanur Rahman: To pay tribute to those whose blood was shed in the July movement, we must participate in the referendum and take a stance in favour of the implementation of the July Charter and vote for 'Yes' and I will also urge commoners to vote for 'Yes'.
BSS: What are your expectations in the upcoming elections?
Mizanur Rahman: My expectation is that a neutral election and a level playing field should be ensured accordingly. Let the upcoming elections be an election to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the general people, an election to fulfill our expectations and promises.
