SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 7, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. M A Muhit today said the government is working in a targeted manner to address existing problems in the health sector.
“The problems include manpower shortages, mismanagement and gaps in service delivery,” he made the comments while replying to a supplementary question from ruling party lawmaker Suraiya Zerin of reserved women’s seat-25 in Parliament.
The state minister said the government has strengthened local health administration and enhanced monitoring of healthcare activities through monthly meetings with civil surgeons.
“As a result, the attendance of doctors at hospitals has also improved compared to the past,” he said.
Regarding cleanliness at hospitals, Muhit said the government needs to transform not only hospitals but also the country’s overall environment into a healthy, modern and clean environment.
He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has attached greater importance to cleanliness and gave the issue the highest priority at a health-related meeting held yesterday.
“Against this backdrop, we held a meeting with civil surgeons today and are further strengthening cleanliness drives across hospital premises in every district of the country,” he said.
“We are working to improve the overall hospital environment, not only to prevent dengue. We are addressing each problem in a targeted manner. Hopefully, you will see the changes soon,” the state minister said.
