Dhaka Bar Association condoles death of Begum Khaleda Zia

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Bar Association today expressed 
profound grief at the death of BNP Chairperson and three-time former Prime 
Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

In a condolence message signed by its General Secretary Syed Nazrul Islam, 
the Dhaka Bar Association, the largest bar association in South Asia, said 
her demise has left the nation in deep sorrow.

Terming her an unwavering champion of democracy and a revered political 
leader, the association prayed for the eternal peace of her departed soul and 
extended its deepest condolences to her bereaved family.

The message further added that following the decision of the Dhaka Bar 
Association, all its members have opted not to participate in court 
proceedings across Dhaka today. 

In respect of this decision, the association has specially requested that all 
court activities remain suspended to honour the directive.
