Tajul hopes to file formal charges in 2 July-Aug genocide cases in April

DHAKA, April 6, 2025 (BSS) - The chief prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Muhammad Tajul Islam today hoped that formal charges in two cases lodged over the genocide and crimes against humanity committed during the July-August mass uprising, will be filed within the current month of April.

"We have so far received the drafts of the probe reports of the three cases. One case is against the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina over her command responsibility in all the crimes, and the other two were filed over genocides and crimes against humanity committed in Ashulia and Chankharpul respectively," he said while talking to newsmen on the ICT premises this noon.

The ICT chief prosecutor said they would get formal charges of two cases very soon and it would be possible to file those within this month.
