DHAKA, June 16, 2025 (BSS) - The prosecution of the International Crimes
Tribunal (ICT) today received allegations against 15 people including former
Cumilla-5 lawmaker MA Jaher for gouging out both eyes of a leader of
Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatra Dal.

Victim and former president of Cumilla city's ward-3 unit of Chatra Dal Golam
Kibria filed the allegations at the office of the ICT Chief Prosecutor.

The other accused are--former chairman of Cumilla Brahmanpara upazila and
former leader of now banned Chhatra League Abu Taiyab Opi, Jubo League leader
Abu Sayed Bappi, Awami League (AL) leaders Md Emran Hossain, Md Pavel, Md
Mokhles, Md Rubel, A Zabbar, Mirajul Haque Rimon, Abul Kalam Azad, Mehedi
Hasan Khan, Manujur Bari Nayan, Md Shawkat, former officer-in-charge (OC) of
Brahmanpara Police Station SM Bodiuzzaman, former sub-inspector (SI) Sumon
Kumar Aditta.

Another 20/25 unnamed people were also made accused in the allegation.

The victims said that the accused abducted him on the night of August 20,
2016, as he was going to his Kaliajuri house from Cumilla Rail Station. They
dragged him into a microbus and beat him monstrously after taking him to an
unidentified location. At one point, Chhatra League leader Opi gouged out
both of his eyes with a knife and left him to die from his injuries.

Later, police arrived at the scene and sent him to Brahmanpara Health
Complex, showing him detained in a case. Attending doctors referred Kibria to
National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital (NIOH). Police, however,
picked him up from there and sent him to court, after showing him arrested in
a fake case.

Another team of police to save the accused took the signature of Kibria's
mother on blank stamp paper, so that she cannot file a case over the
harrowing ordeal of her son.
