SATKHIRA, June 22, 2025 (BSS) – A court in this southwestern district today sentenced commercial platform Evaly’s chief executive officer Mohammad Rassel to three months of non-rigorous imprisonment alongside slapping a fine of Taka 155,000 on a complaint lodged by a client.
Court officials said Joint District Judge M Habibur Rahman handed down the sentence in a case filed by plaintiff Sheikh Tanzir Ahmed.
Additional public prosecutor Advocate ABM Imran said Ahmed issued a bank cheque in favour of Evaly to buy a motorbike but the shopping platform could not deliver the product in due date and instead gave him a cheque worth Taka 155,000 which was dishonoured by the concerned bank.
The complainant then sent Evaly a notice but received no response, prompting him to file a case accusing the platform’s CEO of fraudulence.
Russel, however, was not present when the judgment was delivered.
Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate ABM Imran said that plaintiff Tanzir Ahmed lodged a case to a court of Satkhira against Evaly CEO Mohammad Rassel under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
He said during the order accused Mohammad Rassel was not in the court.
