5 dacoits taken on 6-day remand for snatching Nagad’s money

DHAKA, June 19, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today granted six day police remand to five dacoits for their alleged involvement in snatching Taka over one crore from the city’s Uttara area.

The remanded dacoit’s are-Sheikh Md Jalal Uddin alias Rabiul, leader of the dacoit’s gang and former army personnel, Imdadul Sharif, sacked police official Golam Mostafa alias Sahaeen, Saiful Islam Shipon and Hassan.   

The Investigation Officer (IO) of the case produced the arrested accused before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court with a prayer for granting 10 days police remand. 

Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Jashita Islam, on behalf of the CMM, granted six days police remand to them.

Police on Wednesday last, arrested the dacoits from different parts of the city.

Police said, the arrested persons along with their gang members wearing RAB uniform and ridding on two micro buses intercepted two motorcycles at about 8:30 am in front of house no- 37, road-13, sector-13, Uttara on June 14. 

They personified themselves as RAB members and snatched away two bags full of Taka 1,22,98,000 from the motorcyclists.

Four motorcyclists, all are staff of ‘Nagad’, a mobile financial service of the country, was taken the money from the residence of a local distributor to their Managing Director’s office of the same area.

Md Abdul Khaleque Nayon, local distributor of Nagad, filed a case with Uttara West Thana on that day in this connection.
