MY TV Chairman Nasir Uddin Sathi sent to jail

DHAKA, Aug 23, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent Nasir Uddin Sathi, Chairman of private satellite channel My TV, to jail following police remand in connection with a murder case under Jatrabari police during July uprising last year.

The Investigation Officer of the case produced him before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court following his five days remand and prayed for confining him into the jail. 

Besides, the lawyer of the accused also moved a bail petition for the accused but Metropolitan Magistrate Rakibul Hassan, on behalf of the CMM, ordered to send him to jail rejecting the bail petition.

Police arrested Nasir Uddin Sathi from the city’s Gulshan area on August 17 last and the court on August 18 granted his five-day remand in connection with Asadul Haque Babu Murder case under Jatrabari Thana.

According to the case, Md Asadul Huque Babu received bullet injuries at Jatrabari Thana area during mass uprising on August 5 last year. He was taken to a nearby hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.

Later, Joynal Abedin, father of Babu, filed a murder case with Jatrabari police on August 30 last year accusing 25 people including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

Nasir Uddin Sathi is the accused number 22 in that case.
