Swechasebak League leader Shafin sent to jail in murder attempt case

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today sent to jail central Human Rights Affairs Secretary of Swechasebak League Enamul Haque Shafin in a case filed over attempt to murder of Dhaka College student Muhammad Shamim.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M Misbah Ur Rahman passed the order as police produce Shafin before the court and pleaded to keep him behind bars till the end of probe.

Police on August 23 arrested Shafin from the capital’s Elephant Road Bata Crossing area.

According to the case documents, Dhaka College student Muhammad Shamim received bullet injuries when the accused and his cohorts hurled cocktails on the activists of the anti-discrimination student movement in front of Dhaka College on July 16, 2024.

Shamim filed the case on November 28, 2024 with the New Market Police Station, against 116 accused including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
