Man gets 14-yr jail in Naogaon kidnapping case

NAOGAON, Aug 25, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today convicted a man and sentenced him to fourteen years behind the bar in a case of kidnapping a teenage girl in Badalgachhi upazila of the district in 2021.

The court also fined convict Ujjal Hossain, 32, of Ballot Uttarpara village in Mahadevpur upazila of the district, Taka 50,000, in default, to suffer three months more in jail, said Advocate Rezaul Karim, public prosecutor for the court.

Judge of Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal-2 Mehedi Hasan Talukder pronounced the verdict this morning in presence of the convict.

According to prosecution, on July 22, 2021, convict Ujjal kidnapped the girl from her grandmother's house at Baratail village under Badalgachhi upazila. 

Later, the girl's mother filed a complaint with Badalgachhi Police Station.

After the investigation, the investigating officer filed a charge sheet against Ujjal Hossain before the court.
