PANCHAGAR, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS)- A court here today awarded 10-year rigorous imprisonment to a school teacher for attempting to rape a Class IX student.

Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Masud Parvez announced the judgment in presence of accused Mostafizur Rahman. 

The court also fined Mustafizur Taka 20,000 in default to suffer another six-month imprisonment.

According to the prosecution Mostafizur Rahman, a Math teacher of Panchagar Government Girl’s School, tried to rape the victim during out-of the school tutorial class on April 18 this year. 

On hearing the girl’s screaming, local people caught the teacher and handed over him to police after mass beating. 

Father of the victim, filed a case with Panchagar Sadar thana in this connection and police later submitted charge sheet of the case.

Special Public Prosecutor of the court Advocate Zakir Hossain expressed satisfaction over the judgment.

Meanwhile, the lawyer of the accused said that they will appeal in the higher court against the judgment.
