Yaba trader gets 1-year jail in Gazipur mobile court

GAZIPUR, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila 
sentenced Md. Mahfuz, 25, to one year of imprisonment without labor after he 
was caught red-handed with yaba tablets. 

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Md. Zubayer Hossain 
conducted the mobile court drive this afternoon.

The UNO said Mahfuz had been involved in Yaba trading for a long time.
 
"Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcement team detained him with the yaba 
tablets. He was sentenced under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018, for his 
involvement in drug dealing," he added.

"This kind of operation will continue in the public interest to eradicate 
drug use and trafficking," said Magistrate Zubayer Hossain.
