Youth gets life-term jail in rape case in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a youth to life imprisonment in a rape case under Sadar upazila in 2024.

The court also fined convict Khairul Islam, 24, son of Sirajul Islam of Buzrukgari Madrasapara in Chuadanga municipality, Taka 50,000.

Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Syed Habibul Islam announced the verdict in the presence of the convict on Sunday afternoon, said Public Prosecutor (PP) of the court MM Shahjahan Mukul. 

According to prosecution, at the night of September 9, 2024, the convict raped a seventh-grade student forcibly at a mango orchard in the town's Sumirdia area.

Later, the victim's father filed a case with Chuadanga Sadar Police Station. 

Sub-Inspector (SI) Jagadish Chandra Basu of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station investigated the case and filed a charge-sheet before the court on November 20, 2024, making Khairul Islam the sole accused. 

Earlier, the accused Khairul gave a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code to Judge Md. Touhidul Islam of the Judicial Magistrate First Court of Chuadanga.
