Ex-MP Mukti, another AL leader Mozammel on 6-day remand

DHAKA, Sept 25, 2025(BSS) - A court here today granted six-day remand for former lawmaker from Narail-1constituency Kabirul Haque Mukti and Awami League (AL) central committee member Md Mozammel Haque in connection with a case lodged under the anti-terrorism act.

Both the AL leaders were produced before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) and police sought 10 days police remand for them. The lawyers of the arrested leaders moved bail petitions before the court and opposed the remand prayer. 

 Metropolitan Magistrate Juwel Rana, on behalf of the CMM, granted their six-day remand each rejecting the bail petitions after hearing both the sides.

Mukti, also a vice president of Narail Zila Awami League and Mozammel Haque were arrested from city's Niketon area at about 9pm on Wednesday in connection with a case filed with Gulshan Thana under anti terrorist act. 

According to the case, the arrested persons along with their accomplices gathered on a bridge near Dr Fazle Rabbi Park of the area on September 12 and brought out an anti-government procession. They also chanted anti-government slogans and tried to damage vehicles plying on the roads to create panic among the citizens at that time.
