Ex-MP Bubli denied bail in anti-terrorism case

DHAKA, Sept 30, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today rejected the bail petition of former member of parliament (MP) from a women reserved seat and Narsingdi district Awami League (AL) women affairs secretary Tamanna Nusrat Bubli in a case filed under anti-terrorism act.

Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Md Saifuzzaman rejected the bail prayer after hearing both the prosecution and defence in the case filed with Tejgaon Police Station. 

Earlier on Sunday, Bubli was detained from the capital’s Mirpur area.

She was later (on Monday) produced before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Dhaka with a prayer of keeping her in jail for the sake of the investigation into the case.  

Metropolitan Magistrate Minhazur Rahman sent Bubli to jail and fixed Tuesday (today) for hearing on the bail petition in the case. 

According to the case details, Bubli along with leaders and activists of the Awami League, banned Chhatra League, Jubo League and other affiliated organizations assembled in front of Ananda Cinema Hall in Farmgate area in the capital on September 24 last for bringing out illegal processions. 

They later marched towards Panthapath from in front of the cinema hall with processions and hurled several crude bombs to create panic among the people. 
 
Later on September 25, a case under Anti-Terrorism Act was filed with Tejgaon Police Station. Bubli is an accused in the case.
