One to die in Madaripur murder case

MADARIPUR, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to death for raping and after that murdering a teenage madrasah student in Sadar upazila in 2019.

The court also fined convict easy bike driver Md. Sajjad Hossain Khan Taka 10 lakh. 

Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Sharif AM Reza Zaker announced the verdict on Tuesday afternoon in presence of the convict, said Public Prosecutor (PP) of the court Advocate Sharif Saiful Kabir.

According to prosecution, on July 13, 2019, police recovered the body of an unidentified teenage girl from an abandoned pond in Purba Khagdi area of the Madaripur district town. The next day, the deceased's father, Mujibar Fakir, identified the body of his daughter.

The investigation revealed that on July 11, 2019, she boarded on sajjad's easy bike to go to Charmugaria, where easy bike driver Sajjad Hossain forcibly raped and killed her. Later, he tied her body with an electric wire and threw it into a pond along with some bricks.

After the incident, Mujibar Fakir filed a murder case with Madaripur Sadar Police Station.
