
DHAKA, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 29,673 workers have received legal assistance free of cost under the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) through the Dhaka and Chattogram Workers' Legal Aid Cells.
Statistics on legal aid activities from 2009 to September 2025, published on NLASO website, stated that during this period, legal assistance was provided in 443,798 cases involving financially disadvantaged litigants. In total, 13,03,643 workers benefited from the services.
It further mentioned that under the organization, 29,791 individuals received legal aid from the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, while 1,052,686 from the Legal Aid Offices in 64 districts, and 29,673 from the Dhaka and Chattogram Workers' Legal Aid Cells.
Additionally, 191,493 people received legal advice and services via the National Helpline Call Center (toll-free: 16430).
Initially, legal aid activities began at the district level. Over time, the scope expanded through the Workers' Legal Aid Cells, the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, legal aid for prisoners, and the National Helpline Call Center.
This initiative is being implemented under the Legal Aid Services Act to provide government-funded legal support to underprivileged and vulnerable litigants across the country.
The Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs supervises the activities of the organization.
