DHAKA, March 04, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former deputy managing director (DMD) Mahmud Hasan and former senior executive vice president Jannatun Nesa Jakia of Eastern Insurance Company Limited over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The petition stated that allegations against Mahmud Hasan and Jannatun Nesa Jakia over acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income are currently under inquiry, while a case is also under investigation for their failure to submit wealth statements to the ACC.

During the inquiry, reliable sources indicated that the accused persons might flee abroad to evade the investigation.

"Therefore, imposing a restriction on their foreign travel is essential in the interest of ensuring a proper and fair investigation into the allegations," the ACC plea added.
