Legal Aid resolves 1.90 lakh cases through ADR

DHAKA, March 6, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 1,90,029 cases have been resolved through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) under the government's legal aid programme, according to the National Legal Aid Services Organization.

The figure comes from a report covering the organisation's activities from 2009 to January 2026, published on its official website.

The report said initiatives were taken to apply ADR in 2,13,303 cases during the period, benefiting 371,193 people.

It also noted that 13,97,530 individuals received legal services at government expense during the same period. 

Beneficiaries included litigants in the High Court and Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, all lower courts, labour courts across the country, and financially disadvantaged prisoners.

The services are provided under the Legal Aid Services Act to support financially vulnerable justice seekers.

The National Legal Aid Services Organization implements the programme under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
