CHUADANGA, July 20, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced a man to death for raping and killing a schoolgirl at Goalpara village under Jibannagar upazila of the district in 2023.

The court also fined the sole convict Abul Hossain alias Fatik Taka 2 lakh.

District and Sessions Judge Md. Moktagir Alam delivered the verdict in the afternoon in presence of the convict, confirmed public prosecutor MM Shahjahan Mukul.

According to prosecution, on December 21, 2023, the girl went to the field to pull together vegetables with some children. At that time, convict Fatik took the girl into a cornfield and killed her after rape.

After the investigation, the police filed a charge sheet in the court against Abul Hossain. Later, he gave a confessional statement under Section 164 in the court. 

PP MM Shahjahan Mukul of the Chuadanga Women and Children's Court said that the court announced the verdict after taking the testimonies of 31 witnesses.
