4 more children die with measles symptoms in 24 hours

DHAKA, July 21, 2026, (BSS) - Four more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,008 new patients were identified during the same period.

According to a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) this afternoon, a total of 702 children have died with measles symptoms nationwide since March 15. Meanwhile, 95 children have died from confirmed measles, bringing the total number of deaths from confirmed measles and measles symptoms to 797.

According to the DGHS, no child died from confirmed measles in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 130 children were confirmed to have contracted measles, while 878 patients were identified with measles symptoms.

Since March 15, the total number of suspected measles cases has reached 119,448, while the number of confirmed measles cases stands at 14,708.

During the same period (from March 15 to date), a total of 102,244 children have been admitted to hospitals. Of them, 98,411 have been discharged and returned home.
