KHULNA, July 21, 2026 (BSS) - The government distributed food assistance among flood-affected, poor and vulnerable families in Khulna on Tuesday 
following waterlogging caused by heavy rainfall.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdullah Harun attended the distribution programme as the chief guest at the Jogipol Union Parishad (UP) premises in 
Dighalia upazila of the district.

During the event, he distributed 10 kilograms of rice each to 75 affected families from the Jogipol and Arongghata Unions.

Addressing the programme, the divisional commissioner said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is standing beside all families affected by waterlogging and 
is closely monitoring the situation.

He said relief materials are being distributed under the Prime Minister's directives to support disaster-hit families.

He also said the government has instructed the divisional administration to ensure that all affected people receive government assistance.

Stressing the government's commitment to public welfare, he said various social safety net programmes are being implemented and efforts are underway 
to remove waterlogging as quickly as possible.

Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Hoore Jannat presided over the programme, which was attended, among others, by Dighalia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sujan Das Gupta, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Abdul Karim and local residents.
 
Dighalia Upazila Administration organised the programme.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner of the district visited the waterlogged Beleghata Paschimpara area under Senhati Union in Dighalia upazila and 
distributed food assistance among another 75 affected families.
