Man gets life imprisonment for possessing 600 grams of heroin in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, July 23, 2026 (BSS)- A  court here today convicted a person and sentenced him to life imprisonment for  possessing 600 grams of heroin in the city.

According to the court sources, the convict has been identified as Khoybar Hossain alias Sukumar, 45, son of late Khalil of Madhuban village under Mahadebpur Police Station in Naogaon district.
 
Judge of Additional Metropolitan Sessions -2nd Court Rezaul Karim pronounced the verdict of the case. 

In the verdict, as the charges brought against the accused Khoybar Hossain were proved beyond doubt, he was sentenced to life imprisonment and  fined  TK 20,000.

According to the prosecution story, in brief, on 18 January 2022, RAB-5, Rajshahi conducted an operation and arrested the accused with 600 grams of heroin from Belpukur area. 
In this incident, a case was filed at Belpukur Police Station under Section 36(1) 8(c) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
 
Later, the investigation officer of Belpukur Police Station   submitted a charge sheet to the court after finding the truth of the allegations brought against the accused.

After reviewing the evidence and documents of the case, the judge  delivered the  verdict.
