Kafrul child abduction accused Juthi sent to jail

DHAKA, Sep 06, 2026 (BSS) – A woman named Juthi Akter, 22, allegedly involved in the abduction of a seven-year-old child in the capital’s Kafrul area, has been sent to jail by a court.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashraful Haque gave the order as police produced her before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court here today.

On Thursday (September 3) afternoon, a seven-year-old child went out to play from the Purba Shewrapara area of Kafrul but did not return home. Later, family members filed a general diary (GD) with Kafrul Police Station.

Based on the GD, police reviewed CCTV footage of the incident site and surrounding areas. The footage showed a woman dressed in black forcibly took the child away holding tightly. 

On Saturday (September 5) afternoon, Juthi Akter was arrested and the child was rescued in an operation conducted in the Padma Bridge South Police Station area of Shariatpur.
