Man placed on two-day remand over shooting businessman in Shonir Akhra

DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today granted two-day remand to Manzurul Islam in an arms case filed over the alleged shooting of a businessman after entering a crockery shop in  Shonir Akhra area under Kadamtali thana in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam granted the remand after a hearing as police produced Manzurul before the court seeking a five-day remand.

At around 8:15 pm on Saturday, businessman Md. Aslam Khan was allegedly shot after a man entered a crockery shop in the South Dania-Shani Akhra area. 

With the help of local residents, Manzurul was detained at the scene. Aslam, who sustained gunshot wounds, was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar Sarker of Kadamtali Police Station filed a case under the Arms Act in connection with the incident.
