DHAKA, Jan 16, 2025 (BSS)- Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul has said all political parties have reached a consensus on an inclusive 'July Proclamation' acknowledging the contribution of all parties to the July mass uprising.

“An inclusive ‘July Proclamation’ will be prepared acknowledging the contribution of all. It will take a little more time but we have to be careful so that it is not delayed unnecessarily,” he said.

The law adviser made the remarks while talking to reporters after an all-party meeting with the chief adviser on the July Proclamation at the Foreign Service Academy here today.

Asif Nazrul said a plan of action will be taken for preparing the July Proclamation based on the consensus.

“Those who participated in the today’s meeting said that it should take time to prepare a document based on consensus of all and there should be no hurry and unnecessary delay,” the adviser said.

Some proposed forming a committee to discuss this in an organised manner, he said, adding that decision will be taken soon considering all the proposals actively.

Asif Nazrul said everyone agreed that a document should be prepared after more intensive discussions based on consensus of all and they hoped that they will be successful in this process.

The meeting ended with the hope that they would be able to formulate a narrative of unity in which they toppled a fascist government through unwavering national unity during the mass uprising, he said.

Replying to a question, the law adviser said no distance has been created among the political parties, while they gave their opinions on the process by which the talks would be conducted.

“We welcome the differences of opinions. We do not see any tone of disagreement anywhere, rather we believe that everyone should work together…this will further strengthen the unity," he added.

Representatives of different political parties and stakeholders, including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Nagorik Committee presented their views at the meeting.
