10 more AL men arrested in city

DHAKA, April 20, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police in separate raids on Saturday and Sunday arrested 10 more members of the Awami League and its front organisations including banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) from different parts of the capital city.

The arrested were identified as Dhaka North City BCL Deputy Office Secretary Md. Sabbir Ahmed Nirjhar (28), Deputy Secretary of Environment Kamrul Ahsan Nishad (28) , 20 no ward Joint General Secretary Ibrahim Khalil alias Kalu (25), Dhaka South City BCL Organizing Secretary Shakil Hossain alias Jibon (30), 29 ward Awami League Vice-President Ohid M. R. Rahman (50), Awami Sechchhasebak League Vice-President Shamim Shahriar (58), Paiti Unit Awami League President of Demra Police Station Md. Elias Kanchan (64), 33 no ward Bangshal Unit Jubo League President Mohammad Hossain Masum (58), 27 no Ward Jubo League Joint General Secretary Md. Habibul Hasan Ratan (34) and BCL activist Robin Dewan (29) of North Badda area.

In separate raids, the DB arrested them from Bangshal, Moghbazar, Mirpur-10, North Badda, Anand Bazar in Fulbaria, Uttara, Motijheel, Mohammadpur and Jatrabari areas, said a DB press release.

With their arrest, the DB of police arrested 22 AL and its front organisations' leaders and activists in the last couple of days.

The arrested persons were involved in an attempt to destabilize the country by deteriorating the law and order through participating various agitations in the capital city, it added
