DHAKA, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) – National Consensus Commission Vice-President Dr Ali Riaz today said the country had organized at least three fair elections, but the defeated forces did not accept it.

“The country had organized at least three fair elections, but the defeated did not accept that at all”, he said at a round table discussion at Gulshan here.

He said the country did not transform into democracy as no institute was formed in the country to this end. The election is required for the change, but that is not enough for the country.

Participating in the discussion, Secretary of Citizens for Good Governance (SHUJAN) Dr Badiul Alam Majumder said, “We have unity, but the political parties have no good will to implement those.”

The students and the teachers should remain with their respective fields, he said.

National Citizen Party (NCP)’s Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Zara said the political parties cannot fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people properly.

Zonayed Saki, Chief Coordinator of the Ganosamhati Andolon, said there must be legal obligations to eliminate the mistrust among political parties regarding implementation of the reforms.

The parties are talking about their own agendas. But at the juncture, the people wants national consensus, he added.
