DHAKA, Dec 3, 2025 (BSS)- Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan today said Islamic scholars play an indispensable role during the country's crucial moments.

"The role of Islamic scholars is indisputable in realizing the rights of the people and supporting the democratic movement," he said.

The adviser made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest the 'International Kerat Conference' organized by Jameya Islamia Darul Huq Madrasha at Hajaribagh Park in Dhaka.

He added that the country cannot progress by ignoring Islamic scholars and leaving them behind in future initiatives. "We want to move forward alongside Islamic scholars in all future efforts, including social and moral leadership and service to religion," he said.

Asif Mahmud also emphasized the importance of organizing kerat conferences across the country to promote morality, unity, and a religious atmosphere, encouraging youth to turn to the Quran.

Later, he distributed turbans among hafez students.

The event was presided over by noted scholar Maulana Tavir Ahmed Siddiqui and attended by prominent Islamic scholars including Quari Ahmed Bin Yusuf Ajhari, Quari Mahdi Golam Nezad from Iran, Quari Sheikh Ahmed Al Zahri from Egypt, Quari Nazir Asgar from the Philippines, and Quari Anwarul Hasan Shah Bhukhari from Pakistan.
