CHATTOGRAM, Mar 21, 2026 (BSS) - Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said this year's Eid celebration holds a special significance in the current democratic setting. 

He emphasized the freedom of speech and political rights that people now enjoy, fostering a sense of unity and love during Eid.

Amir Khasru shared these thoughts with journalists after attending Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Darus Salam Jame Mosque near his residence at Uttar Kattali in the city this morning.

The minister emphasized that the true joy of Eid is only felt when people have a free and democratic environment. 

He said the democratic atmosphere in the country has eliminated fear and restored democratic rights for all citizens, allowing them to celebrate Eid in a harmonious setting. 

He envisioned a united and inclusive future Bangladesh where there will have no discrimination.

The minister expressed his wishes for everyone to enjoy the festivities of Eid together and emphasized the importance of upholding constitutional, democratic, and political rights.
