DHAKA, March 20, 2026 (BSS): A total of 186 Bangladeshi nationals, evacuated from conflict-hit Iran, departed Baku today for Dhaka on a special Biman flight and are expected to arrive early tomorrow.

The evacuees crossed the Iran–Azerbaijan border by land before boarding the special flight operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Baku, Azerbaijan, a foreign ministry’s press release said here this evening.

They are scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 1:30 am on March 21.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated the evacuation with support from the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, along with Bangladesh missions in Tehran, Ankara, New Delhi and Geneva.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines facilitated the emergency repatriation flight.
The government expressed deep appreciation to the governments of Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as the International Organization for Migration (IOM), for their cooperation in ensuring the safe return of the nationals.
