6 arrested with 950 kgs of potatoes from Banshkhali while smuggling to Myanmar

CHATTOGRAM, March 20, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested 6 smugglers in Banshkhali for attempting to smuggle 950 kgs of potatoes to Myanmar. 

The operation, based on a tip-off, took place near S Alam Power Plant. 

The Coast Guard seized an illegal artisanal trawling boat, a trawling net worth Tk 120,000, and the smuggled potatoes. The arrested individuals have been handed over to Banshkhali Police Station for legal action. 
Further steps are being taken regarding the seized items, coast guard sources said.
