Committee formed to observe 45th martyrdom anniversary of Ziaur Rahman

DHAKA, May 10, 2026 (BSS) - The Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) has formed a committee to observe the 45th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman with due respect and dignity.

The foundation also called upon all concerned to take necessary preparations to mark the occasion appropriately.

Professor Md. Lutfar Rahman has been appointed convener of the committee, while agriculturist Boazar Rahman will serve as member secretary.

The joint conveners are Advocate Mohammad Ali, Professor Dr. Sheikh Monir Uddin Jewel, Engineer Umasha Umayan Moni Chowdhury, Rezaur Rahman Chowdhury Sumon and Dr. Parvez Reza Kankon.

Professor Dr. Farhad Halim has been named executive director of the committee.

The committee also includes a number of academics, engineers, agriculturists, journalists, businesspersons and physicians.

In addition, three sub-committees have been formed to oversee different programmes marking the anniversary.

Professor Md. Lutfar Rahman will lead the sub-committee responsible for laying wreaths at the mausoleums of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Agriculturist Professor Dr. Abdul Karim has been appointed convener of the tree plantation sub-committee, while Engineer Shahin Hauladar will head the sub-committee tasked with arranging programmes at old-age homes and orphanages.
