Organised by the Fine Arts Department and managed by the academy's Fine Arts Division, the exhibition will continue until May 23.
The exhibition showcases paintings created by Rabindranath Tagore himself alongside portraits and other artworks on the poet by renowned Bangladeshi artists.
It will remain open to visitors every day from 11am to 8pm.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Nitai Roy said painting was one of the significant dimensions of Rabindranath Tagore's multifaceted genius.
"Rabindranath explored diverse paths of creativity throughout his life and painting remains one of the remarkable expressions of his talent. This exhibition offers an opportunity to discover another facet of Rabindranath as an artist," he said.
