Govt support to continue until full rehabilitation: Khasru

CHATTOGRAM, July 17, 2026 (BSS) – Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today said relief and rehabilitation efforts are already underway and the government's support will continue until full rehabilitation is completed.

He said around seven lakh people have been affected by the floods in Chattogram. More than one lakh people have already received relief assistance, while rehabilitation efforts for the flood victims are also underway.

He made the remarks while distributing relief among flood victims in the Patenga area here this morning.

"Rice, cooked meals and dry food are being distributed among the flood-affected people," he said.

The minister said many roads have been damaged by the floods and instructed the authorities concerned to expedite repair work, which is already underway.

After distributing relief in Patenga, the finance minister left for Chandanaish upazila. Later in the day, he is scheduled to distribute relief among flood victims in different parts of Chattogram, including Satkania, Lohagara and Banshkhali upazilas.
