Shaheed Abu Sayeed Inter-Departmental Football Tournament 2026 ends

RANGPUR, July 17, 2026 (BSS) - The Shaheed Abu Sayeed Inter-Departmental Football Tournament- 2026 (Season-2), arranged in memory of martyr Abu 
Sayeed, concluded through award distribution at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR).
 
The award distribution ceremony was arranged after two final games were held in a festive atmosphere with the participation of both male and female 
students at the central football field of the university on Friday afternoon. 
 
The Office of the Physical Education of BRUR organised the tournament participated by 22 male teams with one from each of all 22 departments and 
four separate female teams this time.
 
In the final match held among the female teams, the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism team won the honor of becoming the champion by 
defeating the Bengali Department team. 
 
In the other final match held among the male teams, the Department of Gender and Development Studies team won the championship by defeating the Department 
of Geography and Environmental Sciences team. 
 
After the final matches, Vice-chancellor of the University Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali distributed the awards among the winners as the chief guest. 
 
In his speech, the Vice-chancellor said that the sports competition was completed very well with the dedicated efforts of everyone. 
 
Sports and cultural activities prevent students from negative activities and help in developing leadership. 
 
He called on the students to continue practicing such sports along with studying for human development. 

The programme was presided over by the tournament Convener and Director of the Office of The Physical Education Md Ismail Hossain. 
 
BRUR Registrar (Acting) and Proctor Professor Dr Md Ferdous Rahman, Director of the Office of Student Affairs Professor Dr Md Elias Pramanik, along with 
teachers, students, officers and employees of various departments were present.
