Fascism is a big problem in state building: Speakers

KHULNA, Jan 27, 2025 (BSS) - Experts and academics at a seminar here today unanimously viewed that fascism is a big problem in state building in developing countries.

They came up with the observation while addressing the seminar titled "State Building in Developing Countries" at Khulna University (KU).

KU Urban and Rural Planning (URP) Discipline and Development Studies Discipline (DSD) jointly organized the seminar at URP Lecture Theater.

KU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Rejaul Karim, while Prof Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir from the Department of Development Studies at Dhaka University presented the keynote paper detailing the issue.

Prof Zakir Hossain and Prof Ashiqur Rahman from URP Discipline and DSD Head Prof Kazi Humayun Kabir also spoke on the occasion expressing their expertise on the issue.

VC Prof Rejaul Karim said the path of future Bangladesh will be fixed through the hands of the present young generation. 

Formation of state and the nation is an integrated process, he said, adding that accountability and flourishing leadership characteristics can play a vital role to the process. 

In his remarks, Prof Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir said ensuring voting rights of the people through arranging a free and fair election is a big challenge at present.

He also mentioned that mass aspirations couldn't be fulfilled until establishing a specific democracy.
