Advisory council asks SHED to present summary on FF quota for medical admissions

DHAKA, Jan 30, 2025 (BSS) – The Secondary and Higher Education Division (SHED) has been instructed to present a summary with opinions or recommendations on the application of the 5% freedom-fighter (FF) quota for admissions to public-private medical colleges to the advisory council meeting.

The decision came from a meeting of advisory council held today regarding the admission of students under the five percent quota reserved for children of freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters, and Biranganas in government and private medical colleges, dental colleges, and affiliated units for the academic year 2024-25. 

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus chaired the meeting at his office. Advisers on the relevant ministries were present at the meeting. 

Following the discussions, it was decided that the Health Education and Family Welfare Division, the Law and Justice Division, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs would take necessary actions in this regard.

Besides, public administration ministry was also asked to present a summary with recommendations or opinions on the application of the quota system in government job recruitment at the advisory council meeting.
