DHAKA, Jan 31, 2025 (BSS)- Police Headquarters today called upon the police officers dismissed on various grounds during the previous government not to create any public sufferings by blocking roads to press home their demand for reinstatement.

"The dismissed police members are being urged not to block roads and create inconvenience to the city residents," said a PHQ statement.

The statement said the PHQ has already received 1,522 applications from dismissed police officers.

A committee headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police is working to review their applications, it said.

"The applications are being thoroughly scrutinized. It is being investigated whether they were victimized out of political vendetta," it said adding that it is also being examined whether they were dismissed on the ground of any criminal/ financial/ moral/ behavioral/ departmental or disciplinary offenses.

The press release said that many of their applications also remained pending under the Administrative Tribunal/Administrative Appellate Tribunal.

"Police Headquarters is working sincerely to ensure that the dismissed police members get justice," it said.

Already on January 29, 2025, when the dismissed police members formed a human chain in front of the Police Headquarters, a delegation led by a senior police officer went to them and explained the matter in details.

But the dismissed police members are continuing their agitation causing public suffering, it said.
