Human-chain formed for conservation of archeological site Panam Bridge in Sonargaon

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2025 (BSS) - A human chain was formed at Panam Nagar of Sonargaon in Narayanganj district today demanding conservation of the archeological site Panam Bridge.

Historic-Heritage and Archeological Conservation Committee of Sonargaon (HHACCS) held the programme near the Panam Bridge in Sonargaon, said a press release.

Convener of the committee Shahed Kayes, member Selim Ahmed Prodhan, join conveners Rahman Mujib, Mizanur Rahman, member secretary Rabiul Hussain, president of Sonargaon Sahitya Niketan Asma Akteri, president of Udichi Sonargaon unit Shankar Prokash, social worker Bazlur Rahman, Rokeya Akter Baby, Shamima Nasrin and Lota Mahmud spoke at the event.

Speakers said during the Mughal regime Panam Bridge was constructed on the river Pankhiraj, which is now in dilapidated condition due to lack of conservation, renovation or repair work.
The speakers urged the archeological department to repair the bridge immediately and open for tourists.
