GAZIPUR, Feb 13, 2025 (BSS) – The second phase of the 58th Bishwa Ijtema begins tomorrow and it will end with the Akheri Munajat (final prayer) on February 16.

The district administration on February 9 handed over the Tongi Ijtema ground to the followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi for holding the second phase of the Bishwa Ijtema from February 14, said Mohammad Sayem, media coordinator for Saad followers  today.

Since the holy Shab-e-Barat falls on the same day (tomorrow night), thousands of devotees will participate in the Ijtema Maidan to observe the night of fortune, said Mohammad Sayem.

The 2nd phase of the ijtema will begin tomorrow with 'Aam Bayan' (general sermon) after the Fajr prayers, he added.

Muslims from different districts and other parts of the world have started pouring into the Ijtema Maidan, he said.

The 'Bayan Mancha' has been set up for domestic and foreign devotees in the northwest of the Ijtema ground, he said, adding that special accommodation has been arranged for foreigners  on the west side of the Bayan Mancha.

He said that the Army and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) have constructed a floating bridge over the Turag River for smooth transportation of the devotees.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime-South) NM Nasir Uddin told BSS that the law enforcement agencies will perform their duties with sincerity and responsibly in the second phase like the previous times.

"We seek everyone's all-out cooperation to conclude the Ijtema peacefully,' he added.

Gazipur Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Md Wahid Hossain said that after completion of the second phase, the ground will be handed over to the district administrator again on February 18.
