DHAKA, Feb 13, 2025 (BSS) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed the party's expectation that the Indian government would immediately return back Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh and she would be brought to justice as she has been proved to be a 'fascist'.

"I would like to thank the UN fact-finding committee for their report as they have correctly stated that all the killings took place at the orders of one person, especially fascist Hasina," he told a press briefing at the party chairperson's Gulshan office here.

Fakhrul said the genocide that took place was at Hasina’s order and all the human rights violations that have taken place in Bangladesh were at her directives.

The UN report revealed that destruction of democracy and institutions took place at Hasina’s order, he said.

“It has been proved that Hasina is a fascist and she has oppressed, tortured and killed people of this country. It’s our expectation that the Indian government will hand her over to the Bangladesh government and she will be brought to justice,” said BNP secretary general.

Earlier, British Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh James Goldman held an hour-long meeting with BNP Secretary General and the party's Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid.

Coincidentally, the British High Commissioner Sarah Cook is scheduled to meet BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in London, said Mirza Fakhrul.

"Today's meeting was pre-arranged; the Deputy High Commissioner came because the British High Commissioner was not there. We had routine discussions.

They wanted to know about the current political situation, the steps taken by the interim government, and when the elections will be held," he said.

After the meeting, the BNP Secretary General told journalists about Bangladesh's relations with the UK.

Mirza Fakhrul said enforced disappearances and killings are not just carried out against a particular group rather the people of Bangladesh.

BNP secretary general said they were saying about Aynaghar from the very beginning. "When a report on this matter came out on Al-Jazeera, the then Awami League government completely denied it. They claimed that there was nothing like this. But these things were happening from the very beginning,” he said.

The Awami League government at that time very consciously violated human rights in Bangladesh, destroyed democracy to cling to power. They tried to destroy the opposition party, he said.
