Police ready to tackle AL's tomorrow's hartal

DHAKA, Feb 17, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali tonight said they are completely prepared to tackle tomorrow's hartal called by the Awami League (AL) on Facebook.

“You don't need to worry about tomorrow's hartal as police are ready to tackle it and there will be no impact from the strike," he said.

The DMP Commissioner told journalists after inauguration of the newly renovated office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC-Tejgaon Division) which was damaged during the anti-discrimination student movement.

He said they have already taken every preparation for deploying additional police force to ward off any untoward incident.

“We have already beefed up security measures across the capital to successfully handle any untoward situation on the basis of the past experience to tackle such programmes," he said.

Law and order situation has improved under its jurisdiction a lot due to measures taken by the police, he added.
