Two remanded over hacking of Uattara couple

DHAKA, Feb 18, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed two people on a two-day
remand each in a case lodged for hacking a couple publicly on a busy street
in the city's Uttara Sector-7 area.

The two remanded accused are Mobarak Hossain, 25, and Robi Roy, 27.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifuzzaman passed the order as
investigation officer Uttara West Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Dwin
Islam produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-
day remand each.

According to the case documents, two hooligans were riding a bike on high
speed, honking horns like crazy on road number 9, sector-7 of Uttara at
around 9 pm on Monday. They hit a rickshaw at the time. Victim Mokbul and his
wife Nasrin Akter, who were travelling through the street at the time,
protested the incident.

Later, the two criminals called their cronies and started hacking the couple
on the busy street. The gory video footage of the incident spread on social
media quickly. Meanwhile, the locals apprehended the two culprits over that
incident and handed them over to police.
