Dhaka, Feb 18, 2025 (BSS) - Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen today said that issues related to reforms are an internal matter of Bangladesh as he expressed China's aspiration to see unity, sovereignty, stability and continued development in the country.

"The ongoing reforms initiative in Bangladesh ... I tell you it is truly internal matter of Bangladesh," he told reporters responding to a query at a media briefing at the embassy here.

The envoy said Beijing maintains good relations with all political parties, the ambassador said.

He highlighted China's cooperation with Bangladesh in emerging sectors such as the digital economy, green economy, renewable energy, agriculture, and artificial intelligence.

Beijing also encourages more Chinese enterprises to invest and expand their businesses in Bangladesh, he said, adding that both the countries will organize a series of events this year to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

China, he said, is ready to work with Bangladesh to use this anniversary as a new milestone to further strengthen bilateral ties, deepen strategic communication, expand practical cooperation, and promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

"Our aim is to take the China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level and usher in the next golden 50 years of relations," he said.

On the issue of loans, Ambassador Yao reiterated that China does not attach any conditions and noted that many landmark projects have been implemented in various sectors with Chinese cooperation.

Bangladesh and China, he said, continue to support each other as strategic partners. Since formation of the interim government in August, the envoy said 30 Chinese enterprises have signed agreements to invest around USD 230 million in Bangladesh.

He further stated that China remains the largest investor in Bangladesh and is committed to enhancing economic collaboration.

Ambassador Yao also announced that China will start importing mangoes and jackfruits from Bangladesh in May this year, further strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
