MoC drive in city markets to keep prices stable

DHAKA, Feb 19, 2025 (BSS) - Two market monitoring teams of the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) today fined seven grocery shops in a bid to keep stable the prices of essentials.

The market monitoring teams of the MoC conducted the drives at Townhall kitchen market at Mohammadpur and Malibagh kitchen market in the city.

The team monitored the prices of essential items like rice, lentil, eggs, and chicken, said a press release of the CoM.

A team led by Zannatul Ferdous, deputy secretary of the ministry, fined five enterprises and groceries of Taka 3,500 for not properly hanging the price list and not preserving the vouchers of commodities.

Another team led by assistant secretary M Abdul Kader fined Taka 3,000 to two shops in Malibagh market for not complying with the rules.

Officials of various departments under the ministry and members of the law enforcing agencies were present.
