DU prepares to observe Shaheed Dibash

DHAKA, Feb 19, 2025 (BSS) - All preparations have been completed to observe the Shaheed Dibash (Martyrs’ Day) and International Mother Language Day. 

On this occasion, traffic movement will be restricted in the Dhaka University (DU) area from 5:00 pm tomorrow (Thursday).

DU authorities today said the entry point of DU campus will remain restricted for movement after 8 pm on February 20. 

Residents living in the DU campus area have been requested to return to their residences by 8 pm tomorrow. Other people using the area were asked to carry security passes and identity cards in their emergencies. 

Programmes of the day include- hoisting national flag half-mast, hoisting the black flag at the top of main buildings of the university, offering special prayers or munajat after Asr prayers at the university mosque. 

A ‘Pravat Ferry (morning procession) will be brought out from the 'Smriti Chirantan' in front of Vice-Chancellor building at 6:30 am.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan will lead the procession. The procession will proceed to the Central Shaheed Minar via Udayan School and place floral wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar.

DU authorities requested all to gather at Smriti Chirantan Chattar at 6:15 am on February 21 to participate in the morning procession.
