DHAKA, Feb 19, 2025 (BSS) - Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry Nasimul Ghani today said that the government was taking measures to match the price of
the air tickets with other countries.

"Efforts are being made to bring our air ticket prices at the same level of other countries," he said.

He made the remarks while briefing journalists before the hearing of the inquiry committee ‘on the abnormal increase in air ticket prices and taking action against black marketers’ held at the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Bangladesh Secretariat
this evening.

There are many problems in the aviation sector of our country, he said, adding that one of them is the increase in air ticket prices.

Mentioning that the General Sales Agents (GSAs) of various airlines are not unilaterally responsible for this, he said that is why they have discussed with them how
to solve these problems.

The senior secretary said that the air ticket prices for those who go to the Middle East countries from Bangladesh are very high.

"We have some rules and regulations to this end. Some of them are being followed and some are not. In some cases, there is corruption," he said.

He said that they are sitting with the stakeholders to investigate the matters to find a way out to this end.

The Home Secretary said they wanted to know their experiences from the General Sales Agents (GSAs) of various airlines.

"We want to understand how to overcome the problem by listening to them. This effort is so that our investigation can be useful to the people," he said.

Nasimul Ghani said that they are not going to fix the fare of air tickets.

"We are just investigating the matter. I have been given this responsibility by the Office of the Chief Advisor," he said.
