Kite festival held in BRUR marking 'Chaitra Sangkranti'

RANGPUR, April 13, 2025 (BSS) - A mesmerizing kite festival was held on the
first day of the two-day program to celebrate Bengali New Year 1432 at Begum
Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) in the city.
 
Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali inaugurated the festival
ceremonially through launching a kite flying competition at the university's
football field on Sunday afternoon.

At this time, he said that the celebration of the kite festival is an eternal
tradition and cultural heritage of rural Bangladesh.

"Before welcoming 'Pahela Boishakh' in the Bengali New Year 1432 in the post-
July Revolution Bangladesh tomorrow, the kite festival has been organized for
the first time at Begum Rokeya University on the occasion of 'Chaitra
Sangkranti'," he said.

Overall preparations have been made to celebrate 'Pahela Baishakh' on the
campus with the participation of everyone, including teachers and students,
tomorrow.

"A colorful Bengali New Year's 'Borshoboron Ananda Shobhajatra' will be
organised on the campus and adjoining areas to welcome the 'Pahela Baishakh'
tomorrow highlighting the culture of Bengali society and the agricultural
culture of Northbengal," he said.

In addition, 22 departments under six faculties of the university will
participate in the 'Baishakhi Mela' and cultural programs to be organised
tomorrow.

Students, teachers, officers and employees of various departments of the
university participated in the kite festival.
